Most of you know me as an avid outdoorsman that loves being outside in God’s great creation. Well that’s what I am through and through, so when I tell you that I also do graphic/logo design don’t freak out on me here. I’m not your typical designer. I mean, my hair isn’t spiked, I don’t wear skinny jeans, I have no highlights, and I’m married to a beautiful woman. I do wish I was a bit tougher, but hey, I guess I am a designer after all

I just wanted to let you all know that I do the sort of thing that you see above (my new logo). I created this one for me of course, and could do the same for you or for someone you know. I have a link over on your left there that gives you my contact info. Don’t worry, I’m not trying to hook anyone here, my site is still devoted to all things hunting, fishing, and anything else I deem worthy to write about! This is just a side note to keep in mind. You can check out my design site @ http://www.remoledesign.com.

I’m actually a counselor (marriage & family) by degree, designer by trade, and a hunter/husband/father/christian by choice. I know I’m sort of a weird mix but that keeps life interesting.

Thanks for reading my shameless little plug here and I promise not to do this again….at least not for quite some time

Now back to the important stuff – getting back into the bow stand next week! I’ve been a little busy lately, but the timber is calling my name. Hopefully I’ll have some more amateurish video for you soon!

I wanted to write a bit before the 4th, but as many of you know that check my website, I don’t post as much as I’d like due to time constraints at the moment.

I wanted to start by thanking God for this great country in which we live. I recently was reading over some of our founding documents and after our founding fathers. You could preach a sermon off of their writings and from their understanding of who God is and His role in forming this country. It was precisely the christian beliefs that our founders had that has made this country the most tolerant country in the world to other religions & beliefs. I believe that this was also the foundation of the humility in which these founders possessed. The understood the place of man in the universe, they understood his frailties, his sinful nature, and I believe it was this understanding that drove them to limit the power of the gov’t. I’m not talking theocracy here and thankfully so, it was the principles and understanding of man derived from the scriptures and history that we all share as humans.

Next I want to express my appreciation for our military men and women and their families for the sacrifices they voluntarily make. I don’t like war when it can be avoided, but I’m thankful that when it is imperative to our security that we have those still willing to make that ultimate sacrifice if need be. Not being military myself, I’m humbled by the bravery and sacrifices that have been and are still being made. THANK YOU!

Lastly, I would like to thank all of you who are willing to take part in political matters and I’m not even talking about politicians here although there are a few of those I would thank. I’m talking of you that write letters, make phonecalls, and most importantly vote. I cannot tell you how frustrated I get to hear and see these modern day elitists try (an many cases succeeding) in ignoring our constitution. Let me tell you, I’ve read after our founders and history has shown the brilliance of what they constructed – our current politicians have not 1/10th the wisdom and foresight. Yet they talk down to us from loft platitudes and arrogantly shred the principles upon which our power and success was derived. With one hand they point skyward making flowery speeches, all the while the other hand is diligently working to saw off the branch on which they stand.

Don’t consider myself republican or democrat – I am a lover of freedom, I am a patriot. I desperately want to hand the same freedoms I’ve had down to my children and grandchildren. I want to leave a country where the poorest of the poor can reach the top, where dreams are not squashed by gov’t mandates and regulation. A country where creativity and hard work is rewarded.

We’re not perfect, never have been never will be. Yet we have something special here, something that has enabled us to export more wealth and aide than all the other nations combined. We have been and for the time being still are a force for good in this world and for that I’m thankful.

May we all be thankful, humble, determined and motivated to remain a country for the people, by the people with rights given to us not by mere men, but by our Creator – the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Been a tough week in the turkey woods so far. I posted the success I had with my dad on Tuesday, but since then it’s been really tough. 80% of the birds aren’t talking and the ones that do are gobbling on the roost and then once after they hit the ground and that’s been about it. My game plan is to try and get in their face. They really seemed to be all henned up, so I think it’s going to be imperative to get in close and hope to entice him just close enough. These last few days the only ones I’ve been hearing have been on neighboring properties so the “get in their face” technique hasn’t been much of an option.

Oh well, that’s what makes turkey hunting so much fun – you just never know what to expect. Hopefully we’ll get lucky these next few days and get some to talk. I’ll keep you posted!

Hello everyone! This site is dedicated to all things hunting, fishing, design, and maybe even a little philosophy. I live in southwestern Missouri and simply love the outdoors. My personal favorites are spring turkey hunting, deer hunting, and fly-fishing, although I love to discuss all things hunting & fishing. Hopefully this can be a place to post pics of hunts and the exaggerated stories to go along with them. I’ll share things current and fresh to keep things interesting and encourage you to do the same. Any and all tidbits of wisdom and questions are appreciated as we all learn as we go.

Happy hunting, and God Bless!
